In yet another attempt to drag an unwilling America down into socialism, President Obama has nominated another radical nominee, this time for Surgeon General.
But Vivek Hallegere Murthy’s medical opinions aren’t the reason he’s such a controversial (and dubious) choice for the office.
It’s not that he is a champion of late-term abortions (though he probably is) or believes in fully government-subsidized sex reassignment surgeries (though he probably does). The problem with Murthy, rather, is his position on guns. Namely, he thinks one of the questions doctors should ask patients during a routine medical history is whether the person has any guns in his home.
Investors.com notes that Murthy, 36, is president and co-founder of Doctors for America, an anti-gun group that advocates making gun control a facet of the practice of medicine.
His group, which has been dubbed “Docs vs. Glocks,” has pushed Congress to ban “assault” weapons and “high-capacity” magazines.
He also wants to spend more tax dollars on more research to prove that fewer guns mean a lower crime rate, despite the fact that a number of reputable studies prove the opposite.
In a preliminary hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Sen. Lamar Alexander asked Murthy about his social media comments on firearms, such as a tweet before the 2012 presidential election that included the odd claim that “guns are a health care issue.”
Murthy has repeatedly take his views to Twitter, spouting comments such as, “NRA press conference disappointing but predictable — blame everything in the world except guns for the Newtown tragedy. #wakeup.”
Murthy is willing to ignore the fact that mass shootings such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., occur in so-called gun-free zones where predators are the only ones armed.
The idea that Murthy considers it the place of a doctor to counsel patience against exercising their Second Amendment rights and the fact he thinks it is acceptable to collect such obviously non-medical information to forward to the federal government via patient medical records is frightening and should disqualify him automatically. Naturally, that is also one of the main reasons Obama put him forward.

They already ask at the pediatricians, I brought my grand daughter in for her check- up & that is one of the questions asked me, ” is there a gun in the home” that was a year ago.

Send him back to his country let him take care of it not us
he don’t .
Still trying to figure out what business the Surgeon General has?
I want to know what the hell a muslum doing in the whith house any ways?
Bill
I don’t think so we wil be at DC and you all
Will find out
when are we going to get true Americans running these offices ??? They have no right to ask anyone if they have a gun at home. That is no one’s business.
How much more can we take.
The real problem is those idiots still will vote for Hillary C. OMG what a mess this country is already in.
If the republicans would nominate someone that had more than a snowballs chance of being elected people would vote for him/her. Weak candidates won’t get elected and right now that is all the republicans are bringing forward. Sad!
