Obama’s Legacy: Democrats Lose 1,030 Seats and Governorships in Eight Years

For eight years, Barack Obama prioritized his own agenda over the will of the American people — and now the Democrats are feeling the repercussions. Obama might have secured a second term as president, but he killed his party in the process.

In 2008, Barack Obama won the presidency on likability and likability alone. He was nothing but a celebrity politician. He had no accomplishments, no record, and had no executive experience — but he was popular.

After the election, Obama began to put his liberal agenda into law — and voters balked. When Obama mounted an effort to nationalize the American healthcare system, Massachusets, the most liberal state in America, sent a Republican to congress to stop the government takeover. But Obama did it anyway, relying on trickery and rule-bending in the senate to get Obamacare passed without the requisite votes.

A few years later, Obama escaped reelection loss — but his party didn’t. As Obama continued to ignore public opinion, his party kept losing seats in congress, state legislatures, and governorships.
