Obama recommendation to Turkey
Obama is now recommending that Turkey must close the 550 mile border that it shares with Syria and Turkey in order to stop the flow of fighters heeding the call of Jihad.
And although the recommendation is a good one that should have been made much sooner, the irony of Obama making this suggestion while the American people are facing an immigration crisis of their own cannot be lost.
The American border to the west that aligns with Mexico is at least as porous as the one Obama is complaining about.
“The game has changed. Enough is enough. The border needs to be sealed,” an Obama administration official told The Wall Street Journal. “This is an international threat, and it’s all coming out of Syria and it’s coming through Turkish territory.”
Apparently, the Obama administration is convinced that strong borders work, at least in some cases, estimating that about 30,000 troops are needed to block ISIS movements.
Turkish officials confirmed that removing ISIS from the border is a chief concern, but added Turkey doesn’t need patronizing reminders.
“Turkey is determined to clean Daesh from the 98 kilometers of border between Kilis and Jarabulus,” a senior Turkish government official told The Wall Street Journal. “There is no need to receive any kind of warning or advice from anyone, including our U.S. partners.”
Given that everything Obama does and says is political, one should not assume he is making this recommendation because he is interested in protecting U.S. citizens, rather optics are the thing. He needs to look like he is supporting the war against ISIS by encouraging border closures in Turkey, all the while rooting for ISIS to survive.
At the same time, he is adamant about not closing our own borders, and in fact has made sure that illegals coming across our southern boundary are welcomed and subsidized. And though this also could be said to be an economic war on the U.S. tax payer, there will be no border closings on the U.S. Southern border, and no prosecution of those who have broken the law. The hypocrisy is both stunning and never ending.

Rod J Nielson obviously we disagree. Some points to consider.
1. The Fed Reserve has started raising interest rates and more are expected. Why? Because we are nearing full employment and wages are starting to increase.
2. The average household wealth of Americans hit a record last month
3. As did the number of job openings.
4. As for good manufacturing jobs we have lost: our manufacturing output has increased. Why? Technology now lets us produce more with fewer people. The answer is not to blame China and NAFTA, but to better educate and retrain the workforce. It is also interesting to note that many companies are starting to leave China because wages are rising.
5. As for Reagan, when he took office the unemployment rate was about 5.5 percent. That’s what it was when he left. Obama will win contest. It should be noted that when things started going south for Reagan, he created jobs the old fashioned way: massive government spending in form of tax cuts that later had to be reversed and unparalleled spending on defense. Such deficit spending would not pass muster in today’s Congress. I should also point out that Reagan had a cooperative Democrat to work with as opposed to a party that said it would not cooperate from beginning. Obama has also had to contend with a China slowdown, Europe slowdown, Greece and Brexit, all weighing heavily on world economy.
Having said all this there are some weak spots in economy, particularly income distribution and too many unskilled workers. One thing I am sure off: should Trump be elected the unemployment figure will be higher than when he took office.
How wrong you were! haha Our economy is greatly expanding and jobs are booming under President Trump.
