Being prepared for a conflict means keeping serviceable the old ships, especially carriers. Currently there are six oil fueled platforms in mothballs, but ready to spring to service if needed. Then Obama found them.
Since the start of 2014, the Obama Administration has been actually rushing these conventional-fueled ships to Brownsville, Texas, to be scrapped. Four of these ships, USS Forrestal (CV 59), USS Saratoga (CV 60), USS Ranger (CV 61), and USS Constellation (CV 64) have been towed to Brownsville, and a fifth, USS Independence (CV 62), is slated to join them.
That is bad enough, but a sixth carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN 65), was also slated for the scrap yard, and the Obama Administration has already begun that task, even as Russia and China have become more aggressive. How Obama guts the navy is on the next page:
Thanks for your son’s service and his great sacrifice definitely appreciated here.
Our Navy is the back bone of America. People we need to fix this now and quick. Our very security depending on it.
….and yet, RINO’s let obama destroy our military so their crony Capitalists donars can take more of your money.
He wants us defenseless
Impeach Obama!
Ed: you probably have good points, but I cannot read all caps.

If you check you will find out these ships were decomissioned long ago. They have reached the end of their time. So this article is somewhat misleading. Also I am not a fan of B.O. and I am a Navy vet, just don’t like this type of propoganda.
Elias, those ships were WAY past their life expectancy. As a former active duty sailor, being on a ship that is way past it’s prime is dangerous to my well being, and my life
BA HA HA HA! Where did you ever get the idea that a mothballed ship could get underway in 24 hours? Obviously, neither of you have ever served aboard a naval vessel. All of these ships were cold iron, and would have required months, if not a year in he reactivation process. Most of the mothball fleets are not tied up next to piers, they are at anchorages with no fuel, and no power to them. Please….not an Obama fan to say the least, but these ships are no longer useful.
We already have more ships than any country other than China and far more warships than any country. Why would we risk the lives of sailors on an outdated ship with obsolete equipment, Elias??
