Birmingham, AL has been chosen as one of 6 states the feds will use to pilot the nationalization of local and state law enforcement agencies. Touted as initiative to ‘build community trust’ between citizens and local police, this takeover follows the age-old Marxist pattern of cloaking despotism within a faux security blanket.
The other pilot cities include Ft. Worth, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Stockton, Birmingham and Gary, Indiana.
Attorney General Eric Holder made the announcement today. The $4.7 million National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice was announced in April and is a partnership between federal officials and criminal justice experts focused on providing training, policy and research to address distrust between citizens and law enforcement.
The other pilot cities are: Ft. Worth, Gary, Indiana, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Stockton. The initiative comes after several high profile fatal police-involved shootings.
“We are truly honored that DOJ would select Birmingham as one of six national pilot sites,” said Birmingham police Chief A.C. Roper. “The mayor and I actually started discussing this initiative several months ago and knew there would be over 100 cities vying for the limited opportunities.”
“We’re all aware of the modern day issues and national discussion on policing in America. Although we’ve worked extremely hard building bridges in our communities we saw this initiative as an opportunity to strengthen relationships, increase public cooperation, and improve the perception of police legitimacy across our city,” Roper said. “We truly recognize that the Birmingham Police Department cannot be successful without community support and community trust. This three year project will allow us to serve as a national police model and increase our capacity to serve our citizens.”
The Department of Justice started the initiative as part of the My Brother’s Keeper program, which seeks to create opportunities for all young people throughout the country – regardless of background – to improve their lives and reach their full potential.
“We are always committed to engaging with the community to ensure that we are serving them and hearing their concerns,” Birmingham U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said in a prepared statement. “We want to do a good job of listening, so that we can work together to make the community safe. We appreciate the opportunity to be one of the six pilot sites in this initiative, and the recognition from Washington that we are trying to get it right down here.”
Needs to stop
We will never be able to arrest them for treason as the whole government is corrupt. They continue to incite patriotic Americans so they can force us to revolt and then they can declare martial law. Why do you think they have FEMA building (concentration) camps across the USA??? Why has DHS bought tons of illegal ammo??? Why all the military “exercise” taking place in states and cities and not on military land??? Why is there a shortage of survival foods on the internet as many state “out of stock”? Better start prepping people because it will all boil over before Obama leaves office.
Peter Collins if your state/local officials are corrupt, then you DO have a problem that needs to be addressed.
But allowing the feds – esp under THIS administration – to come in and take over is only going to take the “corruption” to levels that make your current situation seem like nothing.
We’re grateful for your military service, and you have MORE than earned the right to express your opinion on the subject, but surely you understand that if Obama wants to establish “federal” control over “local” law enforcement, it’s to take law enforcement, at that level, OUT of the “local” citizen’s control. Think about all of the possible ramifications of that, in light of Obama’s attitudes toward this country, and it’s citizens.
The only “problem” that he, Holder, and the rest want to “fix” is the fact that they don’t have enough control over the population.
Amen
Way to go, blame all law enforcement for what a small
percentage may have or may
have not done. A typical Obama
follower.easily deceived.
Uh huh?
Is it me or does anyone else think it is strange that no major city was picked? What is the government up to?
Robert Boyle I already have my application in for the executioner or professional chair kicker.
Barry L. Thomas I agree the feds are messed up as well. However, its is really picking the lesser of two evils. Our state government refuses to address the problems with our prison system, one we can no longer afford. Their answer came in the form of a tax increase to continue to feed the prison system. Did you know in Alabama it is a felony to have oral sex even with your spouse. I never heard of anyone going to prison for it but in Alabama anything is possible when it comes to our criminal justice system. These are the kind of laws this state government has enacted. We need adult supervision bad. Alabama is in bad need of changes and the state government is too corrupt to make those changes. From a philosophical level I am a pro states rights advocate. However, sometimes change has to be forced. The segregation laws are a prime example of the feds stepping in when the state government refuses to do the right thing. I am no fan of Obama or the Democrat party. I am very conservative. This sounds strange I am sure with my stance on this subject. I am in no way supporting the federal government taking total control. Back in the 80’s the feds came in and made our state reduce its prison population. They did the same in California through the federal courts a couple years ago. Compare Alabama to Tennessee. Tennessee has about 2 million more citizens than Alabama yet has about 10,000 fewer inmates in their prison system. Is Alabama any safer than Tennessee due to so many more in our prison system? NO. There is no way anyone can argue in favor of an American prison system being 200% capacity.
Why are the states allowing this?????? And can’;t he be arrested for TREASON?????????? Total Lunacy!!!!!!!!!
