An NYPD officer has been caught on camera stealing $1,300 from a man, Terrel Haskins, before pepper spraying him and another person during a stop-and-frisk procedure.

There is a slant to some of the reporting on this site. The story is not complete. For example, when you frisk a suspect, you empty their pockets. He must have been stopped for suspected drug dealing because, honestly, who walks around NY with $1300 cash on them? Was the man arrested? If there were drugs as well as the cash and he WAS arrested after the camera stopped, then it was seizure of assets, not theft. The cop keeps the cash in plain sight, he never sticks it in his pocket on the video. The guy filming it should have been arrested for interfering in a police investigation! It’s one thing to stand quietly out of the way and tape a perceived injustice. This guy was right in the middle of the scene yelling his opinion on the situation. That is not ok.
I’m not saying the officer was right. I’m just asking how anyone can make an educated assessment without the whole story?
