Democrat and Republican liberals alike often excoriate those who think that welfare programs should not be parceled out indiscriminately, but should require something from the recipients. Back when Bill Clinton was fighting impeachment, he actually signed on to a welfare for work program, and amazingly, the welfare roles shrank!
It turns out that if people can get stuff for free, without having to do anything for it, they will. That should not be a surprise. The other thing liberals will have us believe is that welfare recipients have no responsibility for their situation. While that is certainly true in some cases, there are many more that result from poor decisions and behavior.
Starting late last year, North Carolina began requiring drug testing of new applicants for a state welfare program. A number of politicians decried the requirement as unfair, saying that it was too costly, and that it was onerous to those who would be required to take the test. The test was not universal and applied only to one program, but the results were quite surprising.
See test results on page 2:
Understand the most of those on welfare are more than capable to work. Most of them do so under the table anyway. So, cutting them off, isn’t going to put them without means to survive. Give them a date. In 30 days your benefits will stop!!!
In your last 30 days you will be required to prove your disabilities. Each week you will be subject to a random blood test, each week you will need to show proof you are trying to get a job, each week!!!! Make it mandatory!!!. They miss a week out of the 4 left, their out Permanently!!!. No second changes.
Let them be tested and have them do community work to be on welfare
For most of America, we carry auto insurance.
Have you ever really looked at your policy?!?!
If you carry good insurance, you Have To Carry uninsured
If they can buy and use drugs why should tax dollars help them?
It cost tax payers money, look it up.
Where’s all the white people? Oh I know …..working at their drug tested jobs to support this c**p and they’re going to complain because they have to be drug tested? if they can’t afford food or housing or anything else it should be a no-brainer that they can’t afford drugs so taking the test should be simple. and I believe it should be random drug testing not just one test.
Kelli Church It will cost just as much to drug test all of them as it will save kicking a very low percentage of them off of welfare for testing positive. The majority of that low percentage will be for marijuana which should be legal by now. Let’s ignore how many of them are alcoholics and cigarette addicts while we’re at it.
Good ! let’s go N.Y. our turn! get it done !
Took them long enough
