Democrat and Republican liberals alike often excoriate those who think that welfare programs should not be parceled out indiscriminately, but should require something from the recipients. Back when Bill Clinton was fighting impeachment, he actually signed on to a welfare for work program, and amazingly, the welfare roles shrank!
It turns out that if people can get stuff for free, without having to do anything for it, they will. That should not be a surprise. The other thing liberals will have us believe is that welfare recipients have no responsibility for their situation. While that is certainly true in some cases, there are many more that result from poor decisions and behavior.
Starting late last year, North Carolina began requiring drug testing of new applicants for a state welfare program. A number of politicians decried the requirement as unfair, saying that it was too costly, and that it was onerous to those who would be required to take the test. The test was not universal and applied only to one program, but the results were quite surprising.

How come they’re always so fat?
Funny how americans will beat down our poor for falling on hard times but have no problem giving to other country poor.
It is not only bias but a slippery slope where does it stop that the government can conduct illegal seach and seizure of your bodily flluid for just being poor not in suspicion of a crime that is illegal.
How about drug testing politicians Lord knows they need it.
Jeanie Brown What that means is simple. They receive benefits to feed their families. And, they are using those benefits to buy drugs instead. In certain states, they created a policy of volunteer for 20 hours when there was no work available. The vast majority of them refused. 20 hours of doing some kind of community work per week, and they couldn’t even be bothered to do that.
Thia has been tried many times and is never worth the cost. Research that. But tell me this. How would you fund it?
57% failure rate !
Drug testing isn’t that expensive , Employers do it before they hire ! My son and his ex had to each take one in custody case and it was only $100. Each ! Lot cheaper than giving people welfare that can afford drugs !
It’s worth the investment to get rid of the blood sucker’s !
Good
F**e news people.
