“Because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain’s built, it’s EMP-hardened,” states Admiral William Gortney, former head of NORAD and Northern Command. “And so, there’s a lot of movement to put capability into Cheyenne Mountain and to be able to communicate in there,” Gortney continued.
The Pentagon announced in 2015 that the Raytheon Corporation would receive a $700 million contract to prep the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado for the return of US aerospace command, having abandoned it in 2006 for the Petersen Air Force base in Colorado Springs.
It seems to me the Gummit is acting like a little kid, ” HEY, Looky what I got, Looky, Looky !
It’s always been underground
Now that we have given Iran the ability to create nuclear weapons…
great……..
It can survive a direct nuclear detonation, so it really doesnt matter if its known location. Once the doors close, no one is getting in. The USSR knew where it was when it was being built.
So you go underground to escape an EMP attack. Then all the electronics above ground are fried by such an attack. Just who are you going to talk to then? From underground.
Everyone on the planet knows where it is. And if there is an emergency that drives them under ground. When two million fellow Americans show up with weapons, blasting equipment and heavy machinery to dig past the doors, Well,,,,,what cha gunna do!!!
are they safe from natural disasters like earthquakes ?
It never left… If anything they are updating the facilities… There are so many under ground facilities that can sustain life for long duration, hot houses to grow food, and farm animal areas… Those who can pay and think they matter will survive just about anything… If man could build the underground dwelling like in Turkey back then, I’m sure man can devise something grander now.. That’s where all the money for NASA and other defense spending that goes missinG is spent on…Trillions of dollars just misplaced…and NASA footage is CGI garbage…As far as NORAD goes… It’s always been there…they just may have not promoted its need or staffed it as heavily.
