No one needs to be told how most of Hollywood holds strong leftist political beliefs. They ram it down our throats every opportunity they get. Those who will choose to watch the Academy Awards should expect the same. It is really sad that our entertainment industry cannot simply display their incredible talents without lecturing us on politics. After all, this is supposed to be entertainment, an opportunity to get away from some of the harsh realities for life for a bit, not a reminder of how divisive political discourse has become.
In fact, participants in the event are already ramping up the liberal propaganda, and the ceremonies have not even begun yet.
The heavy political overtones accompanying this year’s Academy Awards became evident in advance of Sunday’s ceremony, as directors of the five foreign-language film nominees Friday issued an unprecedented advance statement condemning “the climate of fanaticism and nationalism” in the U.S. and other countries.
They dedicated the Oscar, no matter which film wins, to those working toward unity.
They directors symbolically rejected the borders that define their category’s nominees, saying, “We believe there is no best country, best gender, best religion or best color. We want this award to stand as a symbol of the unity between nations and the freedom of the arts.”
This is just typical liberal cultural relativism. There are political ideologies that bring peace and prosperity, and others, war and poverty. The goal of the left is for Americans to be ashamed of their culture and heritage, and thus be willing to submit to a globalist run world order. President Trump and those who supported him stand in contradiction to that, and the left is furious over it. Expect that to spill over at the Academy Awards.
Here’s a bit more of the sort of talk that offers a preview of the Oscars.
The statement opens with a condemnation of the political mood: “On behalf of all nominees, we would like to express our unanimous and emphatic disapproval of the climate of fanaticism and nationalism we see today in the U.S. and in so many other countries, in parts of the population and, most unfortunately of all, among leading politicians.”
They can say what they wish, but it does not change the truth. The vitriol and character assaults from those on the left betray their claim that they are the gentle people in search of peace and harmony. And all the talk in the world will not change that.
Leaders on the left such as George Soros have gone so far as to fund violent protests. Universities, once bastions of free speech and free inquiry, have jettisoned the finest of their traditions and turned their campuses into centers of political-correctness and censorship. We could go on, but the point has been made.
Perhaps when the Academy Awards come on, it’s time to change the channel.
