Ask most of the NFL players before the Obama years what the National Anthem meant to them, resoundingly, they believed it stood for liberty, freedom, and courage. NFL players, Black, White, Hispanic and others all felt that they were privileged to playing their favorite pastime and being paid handsomely for it. NFL players were grateful for the fan base that were supportive of their sport, making American football the most popular sport in the country, before even Major League Baseball.
Parties were specifically constructed around the Super Bowl every year. Little children were dressed in mini-jerseys with numbers and names of their favorite players on the backs. It was specifically American and it was celebrated from the point of view of fun, healthy competition and amazing comradery. The fantasy football league activity was on the rise for decades and had become nearly an obsession in every workplace where an industry unto itself was being created.
Fast forward eight years. Barack Hussein Obama has been the president for all that time and racial strife has escalated to the level of the race riots and civil rights movement in the 1960s when the Democrats were fighting to keep Blacks out of our schools, away from our lunch counters, out of our bathrooms and far from our water fountains. It is spiraling out of control and Black crime is being given a second place in importance to the fact that most of these criminals who have confronted police officers have been incarcerated. Some have been freed. And a tiny minority have been shot and killed.
That last statistic then becomes the basis for a movement against the National Anthem in the NFL, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Fake News Industrial Complex-concocted and false narrative (and Leftist call-to-arms) that Blacks are being inordinately gunned down by White police officers. Never mind the fact that in 99% of the cases where a Black man has been shot by police officers (whether they’re White, Black, Hispanic or Asian) is found in a court to have been justified.
Think about the Ferguson case with the Gentle Giant, Michael Brown. That was the start of the Black Lives Matter movement that kick-started a mixed-race youth in the NFL named Colin Kaepernick to begin disrespecting the National Anthem; something that (pre-Obama) NFL players felt stood for liberty, freedom and courage. Apparently, Kaepernick thinks the National Anthem, written by a war patriot Francis Scott Key, stands for slavery and injustice. Rumors abound that Kaepernick’s Muslim girlfriend, Nessa Diab, is the force behind his prank to disrespect America, but that’s another story.
Americans disagree vehemently and the numbers are beginning to show the truth. The latest Remington Research Group poll has been published and NFL team owners, coaches and assistants should start to worry.
Remington Research Group has conducted a national public opinion survey regarding the NFL. The survey was conducted September 25th and 1,633 respondents participated.
Most Americans, 51%, say they have watched less football this year compared to the past. Of respondents who said they have watched less football this year, 69% cite their reason as players using the NFL as a stage for their political views.
Republicans and Non-Partisans have been cutting back on watching football at a higher rate than Democrats, as 66% of Republicans say they have watched less football this year compared to 33% of Democrats. Among Non-Partisans, 55% reported they have watched less football this year compared to the past.
Almost two-thirds of Americans, 64%, state that NFL players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem while 24% of Americans do not believe players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem.
By party affiliation, 91% of Republicans, 60% of Non-Partisans and 43% of Democrats believe players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem. Among
Democrats, 41% do not believe players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem.
Concerning news for the NFL is that 50% of Americans claim they are less likely to watch their favorite team due to the protests during the national anthem. Furthermore, 60% of Americans believe players should find a more appropriate place to protest.
“Americans are very clear on this issue: they do not support political protests during the national anthem,” said Titus Bond, Director of Remington Research Group. “On top of that, due to the protests, Americans are watching less football and that trend will continue as long as the protests do.”
The lines of demarcation are clear and on one can dispute that the once beloved sport of football is on the outs for America. Which is interesting on its face as well. The National Football League, by permitting this blatant rule-breaking without consequence, is actually hastening their own demise, doubly fast.
How? Well, we have been treated for the past decade to an entire array of FNIC stories on every network and in every newspaper and magazine, as well as online news, and even the once-revered sports authority ESPN, that American football (in particular) is the Satan of modern sports competition. Its blatant disregard for its players health and welfare, they say, is apparent because of the rising number of concussions.
Concussion discussions arose about two decades ago and have only become more fanatical as the years have rolled by, with the culmination occurring when former big-league, iconic football players began to come forward and claim that the NFL never told them how dangerous the sport was and that, now they were suffering from the ill-effects of the massive amounts of concussions they had sustained after years in the game. Some were actually suing the NFL for reparations for their dastardly and barbaric practice of not telling the players that they would be hit…and hit hard…by the opposing player during the games.
Because of these discussions, parents influenced by the torrent of negative FNIC stories that began to appear on every network about the evils of American football, started to pull their kids out of the sport and enroll them into a less contact sport…like soccer?
FUN FACT: Just as many concussions occur on an annual basis between soccer players as occur with football players.
At any rate, this seething hatred by the Left for American football (not English football, or rugby) is still there and is a clear and present danger for the League, even though it is put on the sidelines while the foolish useful idiots on the gridiron continue to make spectacles of themselves. The point is, the American people are beginning to hate the NFL for the very reasons that the Left is holding them up to praise.
Now, let’s fast forward one more time. In 10 years when the American people have effected a mass exodus from supporting the NFL, and the kneeling escapades no longer hold any interest for the FNIC because ratings are down…again…the Left then begins its renewed assault on the cash-strapped and ticket-sales-starved NFL regarding the concussion lunacy.
Hence, the eventual demise of the NFL. There are but two nails left for the coffin of the National Football League. One is concussions fanaticism. The second is “taking the knee.”
Goodnight, NFL.
