A New Jersey woman is facing a $1,000 dollar fine for harboring wild animals, or at least that’s what the courts are calling it. Maria Vaccarella, a resident of Howell, NJ, took in two baby squirrels after their mother had abandoned them on her property this summer.
She found them all alone and vulnerable to hungry predators. She wasn’t looking for pet squirrels, nor did she intend to purposefully break the law. Out of the kindness of her heart, she took the two baby squirrels into her home and nursed them back to health, fully intending on returning them back to the wild once they were strong enough.
Despite her good intentions, two officers showed up at her door.

That sounds about right coming from the law. The morons in this case is the judge that allowed this case to go forward. I guess he needed some beer money,in this case a bag of dope.
They told me the same thing about George the bunny. They said I should flush him or put him in the yard and let a cat eat him.
Stupid anti animal mentality!
Yes saving an animal is a crime while throwing fetus in a garbage isn’t! Yes we have come so low as country!
Who is making all these crazy laws and fines – time to start looking into our lawmakers and maybe replacing them – they seem to feel they do not work for us, yet in reality they do, though most people just accept what they say
I would love to, but haven’t got the time or paper or internet access. You should Danielle Dawn. Creating a petition is pretty easy.
Out of control is right
Lord please help the stupid out there use the brain you gave them.
A kid out west found a crow that had its wing broken. He nursed it back to health and it was his close friend. He brought it to school, was in the papers, even made it on TV. Wildlife agents came and confiscated the bird because it’s against the law to keep them. They took the bird from the kid BUT because it could not fly they could not return it to the wild, so they killed it!
The government for ya!
