Like all government programs, this expands the already huge debt, and will hike Obama’s budget plan to possibly extra millions of dollars. Providing the illegal immigrants with individual social workers who will then in turn sign the illegals up for services our own homeless are going without-housing and medical services, appears to some to be pro-illegal over American’s own citizens. Many Americans cannot afford healthcare-Obamacare is not free. The very people, the lower to middle class, most who are paying into the system, cannot afford healthcare, do not have their housing paid for by the government.
According to a GOP staffer informed about the program, in addition to aiding illegal immigrant families with accessing pro-bono legal assistance, free medical clinics, public school enrollment, public transportation, and housing — in emergency situations these case workers will drive them to their immigration appointments and hearings.
The stakeholder announcement explains that the program will offer “orientation and education to participants about their rights and responsibilities; Individualized family service plans; Assistance with transportation logistics; Assistance in securing access to housing, education, and medical providers (if needed); Tracking and monitoring of immigration obligations (to include attendance at immigration court hearings); and Safe repatriation and reintegration planning for participants who are returning to their home countries.”
This is the conundrum, Americans are generous people, yet with the economy in the dumpster, one cannot give what one does not have-we must fix our own economy, provide real jobs vs. Obama’s fake job creation numbers. Real full time employment, not part time seasonal work. Then and only then, when America is strong, can we address these type issues.
Of course, the elephant in the room, is the continuation of this flood of illegal immigrants-with the Syrian refugee crisis looming for the US, this program seems like a fantasy to the left and a nightmare to conservatives. How many potential terrorists are slipping through the cracks? What is the reality of what is feasible? Sinking the ship to take on so many is suicidal behavior.
