The latest effort to use our military as a political statement maker comes from the Left as well. It is that all women should be required to register for the draft. It has nothing to do with how the American people feel or whether women would actually be drafted if war actually came. Instead, it is to show that women are “the same” as men, which is patently false. It has already been seen in many of the more physically and emotionally demanding services that virtually all women who enter the competition to be Navy Seals or elite Marine troops wash out due to lack of physical strength or endurance that just make it a bad fit. The Liberal answer? Lower the standards and adapt them to what women can do. And all of this is because Liberals do not understand what a military is and what it is for. Read more on this nonsense:
“If we want equality in this country, if we want women to be treated precisely like men are treated and that they should not be discriminated against, then we should support a universal conscription,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said.
The House Armed Services Committee voted 32-30 to include the amendment in the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Congress has been debating what to do about the draft since Defense Secretary Ash Carter opened up all combat jobs to women late last year.In 1981, the Supreme Court ruled that women did not have to register for the draft because combat jobs were closed to them.
With that reason now moot, some lawmakers have argued women should now register. Others want women to remain exempt, while still others say this is the opportune time to abolish the draft altogether.
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), who is opposed to women in combat and in the draft, offered the amendment to force discussion on the issue. He introduced a standalone bill earlier this year for the same reason.“The draft is there to get more people to rip the enemy’s throats out,” said Hunter, who voted against his own amendment. “I don’t want to see my daughters put in a place where they have to get drafted.”
Both “coffeehouse liberals in San Francisco” and “conservative families who pray three times a day” oppose including women in the draft, he added.
Speier took issue with the idea that liberals don’t support women registering for the draft.
Rep. Chris Gibson (R-N.Y.) added that if women were drafted, they wouldn’t be forced into jobs that they aren’t equipped to do.
“What we have right now is standards-based,” he said. “The fact of the matter is, if we need hundreds of thousands of folks to serve, that hasn’t changed any reality of if it’s going to be standards-based of who’s going to be in the infantry and who might be supporting.”
So for the Left, it is all about “creating equality in this country and making sure women are treated exactly like men,” and simply ignores whether such a policy would make our military more effective and prepared. Liberals are also not discussing the fact that there would be a large price tag for having all women register for the draft since it would require people to administer and oversee the program. That would be one more federal agency needing funding, executives, offices, and all the other trappings that a large enterprise requires, all for a show that has absolutely nothing to do with military readiness or capability. Jackie Speier really needs to go see a movie like Saving Private Ryan or some other gritty, violent film to see what the military is really about when called on to defend this nation, and quite trying to use it for political statements and jobs programs for unemployed Democrats.

When there was a draft, many women volunteered. Many drafted men failed to get in for various reasons. That number would be much higher now due to the pussification of our population. It costs a lot of money to process these draftees, then they fail to pass the requirements. Hussein has seen to it that many good people have left the military either by force, or their morale went south, and they left. As long as there are sufficient volunteers, why change anything? True, many young men need the discipline that they have never received in their lives.
