Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Not sure your comment makes sense. How will “being free”help get more water?
So now your blaming the weather and drought on liberals? How is that?
Pretty self explanatory.
They say its to expensive to do but if the problem is that big you would think they would figure something out.
But, here a small break down. Liberty always equals solutions…state control always equals problems…

Let’s see….. Has any water been stopped because of a small useless minnow by liberal policy…..no moron liberals and progressives can’t change or alter the weather by they can paint a state into a corner and when the rains stop the mismanagement by their useless policies exponentially add to the disaster. Wake up were not all as stupid as you wish we were.
I was being sarcastic.
The problem is the Sierra club and the enviro groups saw to it that any area that held rain water in a reservoir was drained. Any rain water they receive runs straight into the ocean.
Seeing as how there is a m$#%&!@*ive body of water directly west of the state, desalination plants should have been in the plans decades ago. M$#%&!@*ively growing populations using the same water sources for electric, drinking, etc., you’d think someone with a brain would have called this years ago.
There is plenty of water here in Texas and California has plenty of money send trucks to get water there is plenty but that won’t happen
