Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Gareth Davies you do realize the the oil industry makes up the things in your house and vehicles and the stuff that you and everyone else uses day to day. I work in the oilfield half the people that talk bad about it don’t even know what they are talking about. A lot of the chemicals we use in facking I’ve had end up in my mouth or eyes due to just working. I haven’t gone blind or had any major medical problems. I $#%&!@*ure you that farmers have as much access to water as they want. After all farmers are paid by the government to grow the crops that they do. And the oil companies that may be in cali they pay to be there also. They aren’t just there for the oil or natural gas.
I guess my land value will go up drastically when they move to Michigan
Thanks for all your red tape when it comes to building resources that could have helped with this. You can blame the last 25 years of progressive policies and completely ruining this state
