Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.
MOVE TO PAGE 2:.
We can send people to mars but can’t figure out how to pull water from the ocean.
The entire state has an ocean for a border and the libs have governed the state for decades and have had no plans to build De-salinazation plants or dams to catch the spring snow melt from the mountains on the east side of the state – liberalism IS a mental disorder
And about half are illegal
Yet they drained water sources to save a fish! Brilliant!
wont the just get water from the ocean
That would make sense, and that’s not allowed.
THERE THERE steve THERE THERE… 😎
…and Republicans still deny this is happening.
I can’t stop the drought but I can suggest that California quit diverting ONE FOURTH of their fresh water that now goes into the ocean as runoff to save a possible endangered species. Save the Humans!
The Democrat governor and Democrat controlled legislature choose to follow Federal POLICY and every year dump thousands of gallons of water in the ocean to protect a non indigenous fish called the delta smelt. The political reason is to decimate the Central Valley which is primarily Republican. Unfortunately this policy came from Washington DC late in Bush’s presidency based on false science. So folks, neither party really cares about the productive American citizen and the ones to ultimately suffer the most will be the poor. Fewer producers, more takers bad formula. A couple of years ago we had a bodacious snow pack and rainfall. Out in the bay and ocean it went.
