Donald Goldman is an advocate for slimeball lawyer, Michael Cohen, believing him to be worthy of defense. Although he has not said that Cohen told the truth about his “fixing” for the president in the case of porn star, Stormy Daniels, Goldman believes that Cohen is being “left out to dry” by Trump.
Over a year and a half ago, Goldman appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe with a line-up of Stormy Daniels cheerleaders in order to explain to the panel that messing with the Southern District of New York federal judges was a mistake. Goldman himself was a lawyer with that division. He was adamant about the president not being a rational person for alluding to malpractice on the part of the attorneys in New York.
“Let’s assume he’s a rational actor, for a moment, and it’s a political play, which is where he’s been advised that he’s likely not gonna get charged by either – as a sitting president, right now. And so, what is gonna play out is there’s gonna be a report and it will go to Congress and it will be an impeachment issue for Congress to deal with. At which point, it turns political. So, he’s trying to undermine the investigation, he’s trying to undermine the evidence, and he’s trying to provide his allies and surrogates in Congress with some political cover so that they have a basis on which to attack the information and the evidence that comes out. That’s the – it’s not a legal play, ‘cause I don’t see – there’s nothing legal – the legal system is gonna play out.”
Three things occurred to me as I listened in on this conversation, excruciating as it was.
One was that Daniel Goldman is not a polished speaker or commentator. His thoughts may be good in the courtroom with legal briefs in front of him, but his delivery? Let’s just say that he wouldn’t be getting Colonel Nathan R. Jessup to fess up to Private Santiago’s Code Red.
Secondly, HE’S ALREADY TALKING ABOUT IMPEACHMENT…MORE THAN A YEAR AGO! And for what? Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels!
And finally, the third thing was that Goldman is really, really boring. Don’t get me wrong…sometimes it’s okay to be a little boring. Nobody ever accused Joe Biden of being “exciting,” right? At the very least, though, you can expect a few good laugh-gaffes out of him. With this guy, Goldman, it’s a snooze-fest. Take a look at his explanation of how the process for legal testimony works and how unbiased it really is.
“And this is where this theory really falls apart. Because even if you assume that the prosecutors are acting improperly and make threats and doing all sorts of improper things to convince Michael Cohen to cooperate, there are so many checks and balances that happen after that fact. So, let’s say in this hypothetical theory that Michael Cohen just makes up a story because he’s really innocent and everybody else is innocent. In a case like this, in a white-collar case, you’re gonna have contemporaneous emails, you’re gonna have bank records, you’re gonna have documents. So, in theory, if they’re innocent, he’s making up a story of guilt that’s gonna be inconsistent with all the innocent evidence. That’s why it doesn’t happen. And from a process perspective, we would never ever allow anyone to cooperate if we have not vetted their information and made sure that it’s truthful. Not just that we believe it’s truthful, to see other evidence, other witness testimony, other documentary evidence that convinces us it’s truthful, and then, once you have a cooperating witness who you believe, you still would never charge anyone based solely on that cooperating witness’ testimony. You have to have other corroborating evidence. So, there are so many different ways that the system ensures that the proper people are being charged.”
Immediately following this diatribe, Morning Joe did the only thing possible to turn it into an even more boring segment: He turned it over to Mika Brzezinski. Yup…that bad.
This is the guy, Daniel Goldman…partisan witch hunt supporter extraordinaire…this is the guy that Adam “Schifty” Schiff decided would be the PERFECT addition to his team of impeachment fiends in the public hearings going on today.
Hey, Lefties, still believe this is all about evidence and misdeeds? Well, that’s a dumb question. Of course, you do.
