Nobody expected MSNBC to air sympathetic coverage of Trump as he was sworn into office (after all, this was the network that openly advocated on behalf of Obama during both his runs for the presidency), but even stout conservatives were shocked by the depths Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow sank to when covering it. According to the two commentators, not only was Trump’s speech “dark”, his call to make “America First” was a coded anti-Semitic reference that was “Hitlerian” in Matthews’ eyes.
