The Miss America pageant has become a source of political controversy yet again.
With all the hubbub over Muslims right now, liberals such as Michael Moore are rallying to their defense, with the filmmaker picketing outside Trump Tower with a sign that reads “We Are All Muslims.” Not everybody, however, is buying Moore’s argument.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Miss Puerto Rico herself, Destiny Velez, had a heated exchange with Moore over Twitter, saying that the God of Muslims was not the same as the God of Jews and Christians and that there was “no comparison” between Islam and the latter religions.
As you might have expected, a lot of people were angered by Velez’s comments, leading to the Miss Puerto Rico Organization suspending her for “actions and behavior contrary to the Miss Puerto Rico Organization.”

She gave up years of hard work to tell the truth. Her reward was to be deprived of the opportunity she had worked so hard to achieve. The people who took it from her need to think about what they’ve done (I doubt they will.) I mark this down as an act of bravery on the part of Destiny Velez and an act of cowardice by the pagent officials who unjustly deprived her of her opportunity.
