The stand-off currently unfolding at Standing Rock has forced the government to drop its facade of compassion and reveal the ugliness lurking beneath.
As any conservative will tell you, the reason the government has been able to extend its power into so many facets of our lives is not because it simply forced its way into them but because the American people acquiesced to it. Falling for the false promises made by liberals of benefits and security, many were all too happy to invite the government into their wallet without realizing that they were also inviting it into their lives.
This is why so many progressives are now shocked to see the government they looked to for guidance and protection now acting as an occupying military force trying to cow a conquered populace. Of course, this doesn’t come as a surprise at all to Native Americans.
