As if the federal government doesn’t have their nose in enough business it doesn’t belong in, since 2012 when the new national school lunch program guidelines came into effect, they’ve been removing vending machines and serving food in cafeterias that kids clearly don’t want. This is all in response to an initiative started by Michelle Obama, who doesn’t exactly look like a pillar of health, herself. And while these guidelines might have the best interest of the kids in mind by forcing them to put fruits and vegetables on their trays, research shows that in many cases, what happens next is not what the First Lady had in mind.

Clearly there has to be changes outside of school also, to really make a impact on the kids. But at least someone took a step in the right direction
