Today’s feminism is less about equal rights to men, and more about benefits such as free anywhere, anytime abortions at the taxpayers’ expense. Modern feminism is a man-hating, straight-hating, white-hating vitriolic ideology exclusive to only the most extreme liberals.
Because of the hijacking of the feminist movement it surprised many when PBS announced through its Twitter feed last week that their newest muppet would be a feminist from Afghanistan.
Meet Zara, who will appear on the Afghan version of Sesame Street, Baghch-e-Simsim, this year.
“Sesame Street has done more to educate and entertain than any other children’s program in Afghanistan,” said Saad Mohseni, the president of the MOBY group, which airs numerous TV programs for Afghani children. “We are especially delighted about the introduction of Zari to Baghch-e-Simsim, which reflects Sesame’s commitment to the country and the show’s positive impact here.”
Considering that women’s rights in Muslim countries are often virtually nonexistent it is likely Zara will not be the kind of radical liberal feminist with which the West has become familiar. Even so, the idea of women being equal to men is unheard of in much of the Muslim world, so it will be interesting to see how this works out.
