This very disturbing video shows police officers from Chippewa Falls, WI pull over a desperate couple speeding to the hospital in urgent need of medical assistance.
Suffering from and asthma attack, Casey Kressin was pulled over for “speeding” and “failing to stop” at a traffic light.
Instead of providing a police escort to the hospital the cop detains him for 10 minutes, which ended up killing the man.

So what happened to the officer? Tried for murder?
well we had to save him from braking the law——that’s our job
As a retired cop, I’ve experienced this same situation numerous times. About 1/2 to 2/3’s of the time, the people were lying about their “emergency” and were simply trying to get out of a ticket for speeding (some had warrants for their arrest). The other times I had to make a quick decision after an assessment (sometimes they were going to the hospital because a loved one was there, injured). I’ve followed people to the hospital (not a good idea), I’ve put them in my patrol car and taken them myself (after a pat down) and I’ve called for an ambulance (worked out). To call this officer a murderer or stupid is wrong – again, it’s easy to be an armchair quarterback. If these two had just murdered 10 children and were simply using this as a ruse to get away and the cop released them, everyone would again be calling for the cop to be prosecuted and describing how stupid he was.
Based on what I saw, the officer did everything correctly for an asthma attack – letting them drive away to the hospital wouldn’t have changed the outcome (based on time alone). They even had an albuterol inhaler this guy used so he likely wasn’t going to survive anyway. I’m basing this opinion on experience, both as an asthma sufferer and as a trained first responder. I’ve been that guy having the asthma attack and being treated by medical personnel. Most of the comments I read were uncalled for. Again, this is another example of how easy it is to bash cops without understanding the difficulties and realities of being a cop.
The article’s author seems to think the correct thing to do was for the cop to escort the other car to the hospital. Here’s the problems with this: 1) If they were truthful and there was an emergency, the driver was likely going to continue driving in an unsafe manner and could possibly cause a serious accident, worsening the situation; 2) they could have been lying, been wanted felons and we end up in a pursuit, again creating the potential for serious injuries or death to innocent people or 3) they were simply lying to get out of a speeding or other ticket and the cop ends up following them until they stop or it becomes a pursuit when they don’t go to the hospital. Again, based on time, this guy was likely going to die no matter what. In my opinion, the author is a jackass and doesn’t have a clue – same for most of the posters here.
On a side note, I too suffer from asthma. On one occasion, I was on patrol and I had this EXACT situation happen to me, except there was just a male driver suffering from an asthma attack. He had an empty asthma inhaler so I took the medicinal insert out of mine, put it in his and let him use my albuterol. He was fine moments later. Lucky day.
I must disagree with you sirur. No one play should take fir granted t
How really sad.
Looks like we have a recruiter right here on this thread!
