Steve Roberts from Santee, CA has been told by apartment managers that he can’t fly his American flag inside his apartment and refuses to renew his lease until he takes it down.
Even though flying the flag abides by the rules set forth in his lease and even though he even obtained permission beforehand, it seems that when new management took over their district office demanded the flag be removed.
This is the 3rd such case we’ve seen recently where our American Flag is somehow deemed ‘offensive’. One case where a man was fined $8000 dollars for having a tiny flag out of his flowerpot, another where students couldn’t fly our flag on Cinco de Mayo, and yet another where a man was told he couldn’t fly the flag as it might offend Muslims.
Having a US flag be your front drapery isn’t the same a flying the flag. Its not the proper or respectful method to display the flag also. I believe in a free country apartment owners/managers can rent or lease to anyone and choose to renew or not leases.

Mr Uglyjohn Que………………………it is indeed flag etiquette, but it is also a LAW as outlined in The United States Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8, Sub-section (d)……………………….”the flag shall NEVER be used as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery. Many laws don’t have punishment, ya’ do realize that, right? We are a society that functions under laws (for the most part) What’s so hard to understand? Some of the people posting try to come off as super-patriots but reveal yourselves as ignorant, uninformed hate-mongers. After all, we are, well at least I am, talking about reverence of and respect for the American flag and not about Obama or Muslims who own apartment complexes. The prevailing attitude here is, “Fuggit, this is America, Jack. It’s not about the flag. I’m gonna’ do what the fug I wanna’ do (under the pretense that hanging a flag in my window somehow makes me a good, patriotic American). It makes you a douche bag. A disrespectful douche bag. There are a lot of people who shed blood and lost life or limb for that flag. Treat it like it matters.
If the D’bag had an Iranian flag or a Swastika flag hanging in his window what would you freaks be saying????????? This is America. It’s his right, so too bad if it offends anyone?!? Doubtful. If thats the case then every flag needs to be removed. Everyone flying their countrys flag for world cup or parades. This is America!!! If the flag offends someone thats on American soil that person needs to bounce
