When 8-year-old Elijah Burrell intercepted a pass and scored his first touchdown for his team, the Black Knights from Lawrenceville, Ga., he inadvertently caused his team to receive a $500 fine and their coach be suspended for a week.
Why?
Because of a very leftist-minded imposition on the game called the ‘Mercy Rule’, which doesn’t permit a team to score more than 32 points over the other team.

Yep, cause in todays “liberal” world you’re only allowed to be just good enough. Never great…. I mean, we need to redistribute some of these kids touchdowns to the other team. Otherwise they may feel bad….
Obviously, whoever made up, and enforced, that bulls**t rule was part of the afterbirth of the “everybody gets a trophy” generations…
Wrong
WTF
Wow ! I remember the saying, you win some you lose some. Yes this is a fact in life more so than sports. Sports are for fun & good sportsmanship means having a good at$#%&!@*ude when you lose congratulating the other team. This builds good healthy character which is essential for life situations because in the real world life isent fair & you ddnt always get your own way.A false sense of accomplishment does not encourage the youth to excess to higher goals. A broken spirit will say ya i did good enough & was awarded so i will be mediocre. The goal is to win & the hard workers should be rewarded not penalized.
PC bulls#@t
Lol wow!! You can’t play tag, can’t play dodge ball,….tetherball would be lethal these days! Now you can’t score points??? Who are these pansies that have taken over??
What does this teach the children? Don’t attempt to excel, you may win and hurt the feelings of the loosing team.
This is a stupid rule. If you are going to keep a team from scoring then you have to stop the game and declare that team the winner. Fire this offical for not stopping the game. This kid and this team and coach are not responsible for this idiot ruling.
Kids have to learn, about success and failure, getting ahead and setbacks, good and evil…….. it’s part of life. How do you learn to overcome a setback if you get a trophy for coming in last.
I don’t want to beat a dead horse. Stupid rule. If you don’t want to lose then don’t play the game.
