As much as we should respect and support our police officers, who generally do a good job in keeping our cities and neighborhoods safe, it is important to remember that too wide a latitude can introduce unintended consequences. And unlimited power can bring with it abuses that we would never imagine.
New technology always introduces the opportunity for both benefits and abuses. So it is with the “epidemic” of drones, the multi-propeller, remote controlled, mini flying platforms that seem on the edge of truly impacting us in hundreds of ways.
They have already shown themselves to be an excellent tool for taking aerial photographs to map wildfires, help real estate agents, and monitor traffic, but they have also been used for illegal peeping and surveillance. They will soon be used for package delivery, which could free up highway traffic and congestion, but could also introduce new ways for unmanned delivery of things like illegal drugs or weapons.
And in one of the newest conundrums having to do with drones, police departments are reviewing how drones will be used, and possibly misused. Legislation in both South Carolina and Tennessee offers a look at how drone use might be applied, and it is important to look at the legislation both for what it says, and for what it does not say.

Choot it.
This is another outrageous and unacceptable turn of events
Jeremy Childress apparently you didn’t have your reading glasses or you just didn’t bother to read what I wrote. So in your little world one must conform to what YOU CALL a republican? It doesn’t work that way Jeremy. Now go back and read my last comment, and I suggest you do so in the future because it makes a person look self absorbed, not to mention foolish, to just write and not comprehend what the other is saying. In short most Republicans I know support their POLICE and MILITARY.
I will also say this, if you bother to read it it is a great point…Snowden received his GED and did not complete college, yet he had access to some of the most classified information in the world. He showed little hesitancy is leaking this information to the press, a betrayal he said he made because in the best interest of America. I WILL point out that because you are using Facebook and a computer to access it you are exposing personally information and have been for as long as you have been a mamber of Facebook. For instance, they can outright determine or logically deduce the following things about the most active people on Facebook feed: where they live; where they work; roughly how much money they make; how many children they have; where their children go to school; what time they drop off and pick up these kids at school; where they vacation; where they spend social time; what and when they eat; what family and interpersonal issues they’re having; their politics; where they were educated; their television and reading habits; what music they listen to; and when they and the other members of their family were born. Google tracks you spending habits, where you shop what you buy, and so much more. If you ask me the real threat to American safety is these CodePink, Ron Paul, so called libertarian Cato Institute supporters, that clearly do not see the big picture.
I pretty much guess you were a PAUL supporter.
They will screw that up too.
Looks like I’ll be shooting down a lot for invading privacy
Time to stop our out of control government
IF…….. Law enforcement took out the bad guys and citizens were safe. I would maybe, be good with these. However,,,,,, until that happens with the support of the lawgivers. I will fight them against this.
Good, maybe they
