Utah Jazz player Kyle Korver penned an op-ed for the Players’ Tribune where he said that all white people should be held accountable for “inequality” and “racism” in America and cited several incidents that he alleges are examples of racism in and out the NBA, focusing on his reactions that included being ’embarrassed’.
“What I’m realizing is, no matter how passionately I commit to being an ally, and no matter how unwavering my support is for NBA and WNBA players of color … I’m still in this conversation from the privileged perspective of opting in to it,” he wrote. “Which of course means that on the flip side, I could just as easily opt out of it. Every day, I’m given that choice – I’m granted that privilege – based on the color of my skin.”
Turn the page for Korver’s take on how white people should take responsibility for racism that is “at the heart of nearly every major issue in our country today.”
This is DOPE and true Testimony of someone who wants to be apart of the Solution, and not just part of the problem. Blessings to you Kyke Korver!!
The Whites mans religion, god, and jesus is a major part of the problem not a solution or something that should even be referenced in this matter. Any reference to religion is just a ploy to appeal to our spiritual nature and shut us up and down.
There is no mediator only us
What? Mediator between Man and God? . . .what are u talking about guy? Here in lies the problem with bringing religion as an antidote. Wow, one could argue we’re in this mess with racism because of religion. Did not the White Man come to Africa, and other countries not in Europe with religion, specifically Christianity and proceed to enslave, murder the populations ? So Jarrod Heglar u need to come up with another solution to an age old problem of racism.
I do not think so mister. My ppl are from Europe (Lithuanian) & they Never mistreated, criticized, brutalized, killed, crucified any group of people. They survived the plague & other countries brutally attack them which try to erase their culture. So before making comments on groups do your history search. The Americans implanted racism upon other new Americans. That’s how I remembered it in 1960’s in Brooklyn New York. I am a 1st generation Ametican. Just as our current present president is implementing hatred to the current immigrants. I agree slavery was brutal & cant believe it went on for so many yrs. but my white ppl have nothing to do with. I lived thru segregation. I lived in a segregated neighborhood till I was 18 yrs old & my father died in that neighborhood pls. Retract your comments. It does not apply to all ppl
I like seeing the awareness and conversation about racism and white supremacy growing and evolving. I praise this person for not looking away from an issue that has caused endless ceaseless suffering for our brothers and sisters in color. White people forced suffrage on them right from the start deliberately and actively. Since then it’s Vin perpetuated by white people looking away from their still existing implicit complicity that maintains racial disparities and Injustice.
FACTS!
THANK YOU!
