Korean war veteran Robert Willits and his wife Judy are battling their homeowners association who insist that they remove the American and MIA flag flying in their yard.
The couple moved to the Fieldstone neighborhood in Greenfield, IN at the end of last year and installed the flagpole over the summer.
Now their HOA demands that they remove the flags or pay $500 fine for legal fees.

HOA is becoming a dirty word.
I proudly fly my flags….I was in Viet Nam and willing to die for others freedoms. I do not like wars…I wish there were not wars, but if we do not protect our borders and democracy (where people want want us and our way of life)…our way of life will diminish. Terrorism must not be accepted…it is like a hole in the dam…a little now and a whole lot later.
If those rules were in place when they bought the property then they will not win. HOA rules are very solid and hard to beat. I personally wouldn’t want to live where I wasn’t allow to have my flags. I would have never moved to such a stuck up neighborhood to begin with.
I will stand with you sir!
It’s not a law it ( Home Owners Association) they make rules for that neighborhood to keep standards to a certain level. For example house colors, junk cars in the yard and unsightly constructs that might take away from the “Look” or value of that neighborhood then the have to follow the rules. I will never live in a HOA controlled home because I don’t like being micromanaged. They are paying the HOA to enforce the very rules they are fighting against. They should have read the rules before buying in.
Yet another reason to abolish Home Owners Associations.
We support you sir. God bless.
You join a HOA…SIGN ON THAT DOTTED LINE GUESS WHAT? You better read that damn document before or don’t f u c ki n join. Simple as that.
never buy a home where there is a HOA.
I agree with Mark. No one needs to told what to do by another person. Keep fighting Mr. and Mrs. Willits, don’t let those anti-Americans tell you what to do!!
