Sadly, future episodes of Law & Order will probably hinge on such gripping cases as this. After, it is “ripped from today’s headlines.” The case of the aunt who sued her young nephew over a reckless birthday hug, may have hinged her testimony about a plate of hors d’oeuvres.
Jennifer Connell, claims her 8-year-old relative was negligent when he jumped in her arms, knocked her down and broke her wrist.
Of course she did not mention anything at the time. She testified intense injury made it hard for her to hold a plate of hors d’oeuvres.

Get she’ll be really welcome at family thanksgiving.
I would divorce her as an aunt. Hope she owes hundreds in attorney fees. MEANEST AUNT IN HISTORY.
Lol
she would no longer be a part of my family she is a discrace
she was on the Today Show with nephew…..it seems she had to sue to get the insurance company to pay her medical bill
This boy’s mother dies. He obviously came into a lot of money. Who does she think she’s kidding?
None of you idiots read the whole story. She wasn’t suing her nephew for damages she was suing the insurance company to pay her $125k hospital bills. The state law however does not permit you to name and insurance company in the case so she had to name her nephew.
I remember a country western singer (I think) was involved in a terrible auto accident – I can’t remember the singer’s name or the details as this was probably more than 30 years ago. She had to sue the victims in order to get insurance to pay – seems the circumstances were such that suing the victims created lots of unfavorable publicity for the singer — I remember reading that she said that the medical costs were so astronomical that she had no other option even though she did not want to sue the victims. The insurance company would not pay claims if she didn’t sue. It sounds like this is similar & the poor aunt is looking cold & insensitive when in fact she probably had no other recourse to get insurance compensation from the insurance company. She has huge ongoing medical expenses resulting from the accident. The insurance company is the villain, not the aunt. Anyone could have a similar event happen to them & because of the never ending high medical costs, would do the sane thing.

did you read the story? The insurance company required the aunt to sue in order to compensate her for her ongoing astronomical medical bills, over $100,000.00 and increasing. The story has been sensationalized to make the aunt look like a villain. A similar event could happen to anyone & when faced with $ thousands & sometimes $ millions of dollars in medical bills, the only recourse is to follow the insurance companies stupid rules in order to pay the out of sight medical bills. The insurance company required the aunt to sue her nephew.
