Other than Barack Obama, only four living people know firsthand the rigors of the presidency — and three of them have refused to RSVP to Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The peaceful transfer of power between presidents is one of the most profound and important aspects of American democracy. At the outset of our nation’s history, it was what set us apart from the monarchies of Europe. While other nations have since adopted America’s democratic system, ours remains the gold standard by which all others are judged. No other country has so successfully respected the tradition of free and fair elections and the personal willingness to give up power.
Which makes it all the more disappointing that Jimmy Carter is the only former president willing to commit to Trump’s inauguration. George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush have all received invites but have so far not commented on whether they will attend.

let the rest rot in hell

Who cares about these losers. So glad they aren’t coming. If Trump was accepted by the establishment, he would be suspect. TRUMP…..There’s a reason.
Losers!!
The others are not invited.Henry
All of the existing presidents including Carter depict what has been wrong with our country I personally would not want them there or need their approval either
All that will come of them not going will do is strengthen his resolve to get real change for the better done.
They were all traitors that’s why weare in such a mess
Excuse me but I believe that the policies of the bushes or Far better by far better than Clinton or Obama. Both of them had Democrats to deal with that continually attacked them just like they’re doing now with Trump. Unfortunately some of the public voters decided they would sit out and not vote or a really cute move, they decided to vote for the little general against Clinton instead of voting for Bush and that’s how Clinton won. And then they decided to vote for Ron Paul instead of voting for John McCain. And that’s how Obama got into office. And then Mitt Romney ran against Obama, and then the brainiacs decided that they would vote for once again Ron Paul. Which in all these cases only help Democrats to win which is been a disaster. Now they finally came to their senses and decided they had better do something and vote for Trump. And not sit home and not vote for these third-party candidates. So I’m not going to bash all the previous president because all of them don’t deserve it! But I do hope that Trump will be the best president we’ve had in this century. Or at least since Ronald Reagan. But the mistake that Reagan and Bush’s have made is to think that they can compromise with Democrats and the country will turn out right. Trump knows better he’s learned from their mistakes. But my question is is the crazy public going to stand behind this president and stand up against Democrats. Continue to stand out against them as we continue to vote on all levels in all races to beat them at the ballot box. And I’m not so sure that the Bush’s and Ronald Reagan weren’t listening to some of these crazy$#%&!@*voters that were saying, we just want you to get along! We don’t send them to get along we send them to uphold the Constitution and the laws of this country. And make decisions for the best interest of the country. And clearly the Democrat party has not ever and will not ever do that so you cannot bargain with them or get along with them. There’s a segment of the Republicans that are bunch of candy asses!
