Iran Fires 2 Missiles Marked With ‘Israel must be wiped out’

Missile Launch Threatens Israel

But that is only because of previous sanctions that were lifted in January that included a prohibition against developing ballistic missiles that could carry nuclear warheads. That sanction was rescinded, in part due to the new agreement. But the range of the missiles and their payload capacity is clearly designed to deliver more than just greeting cards and roses, and there are serious doubts that Iran will abide by their agreement to halt nuclear warhead development in any case.

What the agreement does is give the Iranians cover and time to build their military capability, which threatens both Israel as well as surrounding Arabic countries.

Israel, long an opponent of Iran, offered no comment on the test, though [U.S. Vice President Joe] Biden issued a strong warning over any possible violation of the nuclear deal.

“A nuclear-armed Iran is an absolutely unacceptable threat to Israel, to the region and the United States. And I want to reiterate which I know people still doubt here. If in fact they break the deal, we will act,” he said.

Biden’s comments came after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who strongly opposed the nuclear deal.

At the United Nations, there is likely to be a debate about whether Iran is still required to abide by the ballistic missile test ban under council resolutions.

Iran says none of its missiles are designed to carry nuclear weapons and so the resolutions do not apply.

Iran state TV trumpeted Wednesday’s test as officials boasted that it demonstrated the country’s might against longtime nemesis Israel.

Video aired on state TV showed the golden-hued Qadr H missiles being fired from a crevice between brown peaks identified as being in Iran’s eastern Alborz mountain range. The rockets hit targets some 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) away off Iran’s coast into the Sea of Oman, state media and Iran’s semiofficial Fars news agency reported.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s aerospace division, was quoted as saying the test was aimed at showing Israel that Iran could hit it. Israel is within 1,100 kilometers (660 miles) of Iranian territory.

“The 2,000-kilometer (1,240-mile) range of our missiles is to confront the Zionist regime,” Hajizadeh said. “Israel is surrounded by Islamic countries and it will not last long in a war. It will collapse even before being hit by these missiles.”

He stressed that Iran would not fire the missiles in anger or start a war with Israel.

Israel, of course, warned the U.N. against dropping the sanctions against Iran, and although Israel has for many years had an arsenal of nuclear weapons for their defense, the country is very small and could almost immediately be overwhelmed by an unanticipated nuclear strike. The other unknown is the instability of the Iranian regime that balances between “moderate” leaders and hard core Islamic fanatics who are eagerly anticipating the end of the world, which they could very well usher in.

Once again we see that a community organizer like Obama in no way has the smarts and the wisdom to negotiate with his betters, be they super tacticians like Russian Vladimir Putin, or rabid Jew haters like the Iranian leaders. It is certain that Obama is seeking any way possible to burnish his pitiful record in office by inking a Middle East peace deal, which in fact seems to be leading us down the trail to World War III. But count on Obama and Kerry to somehow claim a victory in this latest launch of missiles and saber rattling by the Iranians as they threaten to push Israel into the sea.
