Proponents of the minimum wage often cite it as a tool to uplift people from poverty. While most of these people have good intentions, their economic ignorance crushes economies in some places.
Influenced by the idiotic idea that the state can lift people out of economic turmoil, many states and cities are enacting laws that increase the minimum wage for their area. Seattle is one of these places.
Supporters of the new minimum wage expected it to give the support needed for the poor to lift themselves out of poverty and no longer use the state’s services helping them.
What actually happened will shock you.

This is why we need a higher minimum wage, it has not adjusted as the times changed, the minimum wage was implemented for JFK so that people who worked could get paid just enough to make a decent living without having to rely on government $#%&!@*istance.

Actually in cities that raised their minimum wage even to 10–11$ an hour had more people working.
Minimum wage was actually made so people could make a decent living enough to not depend on government benefits, and almost half of minimum wage workers are 30 or older with a college degree. Would you rather pay more in taxes for people to live off the government or have the economy properly adjust so people can make their bills and have enough money to buy, thus putting more money in the economy compared to having people live in poverty.
