The Internet has been buzzing with an article from The New Yorker that got picked up and reported by Fox News on an imminent, massive earthquake that threatens to take down the Pacific Northwest.
It seems that this mega-quake is about 75 years overdue – it has been striking the area for the last 10,000 years around every 240 years.
So it’s not a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’.
When it does strike it will take down everything west of Interstate 5, including Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Eugene, Salem, Olympia – home to around seven million people.
The coming quake will register somewhere between 8.7- 9.2 and will create a gigantic, 100ft high tsunami that will also cause considerable destruction.

Joe an I read the article on it and it said, everything from I-5 bridge will be wiped out….
What helps ease the strain is all the little quakes, and I’ve been feeling quite a few lately. Sometimes, it’s just feeling the floor vibrate when you’re standing still. But that’s a little quake. If it happens, it happens. I don’t care for earthquakes, but I’m terrified of tornadoes! It’s what you’re used to, I guess.
I live just outside of Seattle. It will likely be here, and some north and south before California. We’re overdue. I’ve lived here all my life, and I think most natives just expect it to happen one day. I’ve grown up thinking that. I suppose I could move, but I like this temperate weather, and I sure as heck don’t want to live in Tornado Alley!!
That was such a nice sentiment. FYI there are many conservatives here too!
I’ve also heard the newest prediction is the Yellowstone volcano could go first, which would likely trigger others.
ho hum.
I can run from a hurricane but I can’t run from an earthquake or a tornado. I’ll stay close to the coast for a while
Steve I agree with you 🙂
Why is the government using scare tactics ? They dont know when an earthquake will strike or when .
Maybe a sack of rice will droped down in China on September 23th.
