We are living in a time when the due process protections of the Fourth Amendment are more important than ever.
Back in 2012, couple Adam and Jennifer Perry were speeding down an Illinois highway to reach a hearing specialist based in Salt Lake City, Utah who was supposed to treat an ear infection afflicting Adam. Their high speed drew the attention of state troopers, who pulled the couple over.
After a drug dog sniffed the Perry’s car, police searched their vehicle. They turned up empty-handed, with the only thing vaguely resembling the drugs they were looking for being a duffel bag that officers claimed smelled of marijuana.
But they found something else: $107,520 in cash, belonging to the Perrys’.
The officers let them go, but they kept the cash, even though the Perrys’ weren’t charged with a crime or even subject to a search warrant.

Ignorance is strong with these here. If you for to your bank and deposit 10k you get put ok n a list…this is a fact. If you do it once a month or once a week it goes on a list and is sent to the feds. If you get a lump sum of money say from am insurance company and withdraw it from your bank in cash you MUST have a letter dealing where it came from. This is a fact…I know because I have personally moved some large sums of money and every time I needed this paperwork detailing the specifics of the transaction. Whether you like it or not this is the law. If you have lots of money on you with jo verification for where It came from then the state assumes you obtained it illegally. They will cease the funds and hold it until such a time as you can prove that it was obtained legally. This isn’t cray or these guys aren’t keeping the money and buying sports cars etc. The only intent of this article is to create more angst and animosity towards the men and women that are charged to uphold the laws of this country. It is disgusting to read these response …a bunch of simple people who have no knowledge of the laws in this country!
I got pulled over years ago. The state police officer had no reason to pull me over and the first thing that came from his mouth was “wheres the stack of cash and dope stash”. I called my dad on speaker phone and the police man walked backwords to his unit and left. I reported it and asked for the footage but nobody ever contacted me back with any type of evidence.
Something not right how did he know they had this money and why they had this money, and why would he take it and risk his job?
Why also were they stopped?
My local force steals $20 from everyone they arrest, then $2 a day afterward.
Stingray surveillance maybe.
I’m just not buying this yet.
Why people not like cops!
this “law” might need to be clarified or removed.
