It’s now legal for men to use women’s bathrooms, showers, and dressing facilities – and vice-versa – thanks to the passing of the Equal Rights Ordinance in Houston, TX.
Mayor Parker, Houston’s first openly gay mayor, called it “most personally meaningful thing I will ever do as mayor.”
The ordinance’s stated goal is to eliminate discrimination in housing and employment for gays, transgenders – 14-characteristics in total – including race, ethnicity, age, religion and disability.

Shouldn’t take a day to get 17000 signatures
This is insane. If it’s that important to use the rest room, then add a gay rest room along with men and women, I do not need my kids in the rest room with this madness.
There are other things that could’ve been addressed besides a dang restroom, like getting people off the streets and getting these kids a safer environment instead of a sick one. I think it’s selfish and inconsiderate of our kids. You are sending the wrong message to the youth, it enough garbage we have to protect them from already, now this. Why? What’s the purpose?
Great idea, I am a lesbian and I don’t agree with this.
Are you people in Houston CRAZY. Well I lived in the DFW area for 35 years and always said I would never live in Houston and now here is another good reason not to live in Houston. I hope parents sue the city of Houston and the Major himself over this
PEOPLE of Houston don’t want this. They are baffled by it as well as the gay community. Can’t you read? This was decided by 11 democrats that run the city, not the people.
Gay rights over Safety!
Also to all people don’t go to Houston, TX. for vacation or anything else and spend money there and for those who live in Houston go out of the city limits to shop. This just goes to show we need God. All of you who voted for this will be DAMNED.
John, you don’t have to warn people not to vacation in Houston, Texas. If they weren’t aware that they shouldn’t vaca there already, then there is no saving them. This is from a Houston native…I got the heck out of there as soon as I graduated high school.
They aren’t putting urinals in the ladies’ room ffs.
This is just stupid! if my girlfriend or wife was in a restroom and I saw a man walk in there, I would kick his ass!
Fourth time I posted here, and each time it has been removed. READ THE F-LING LEGISLATION PEOPLE! Signing a petition you know NOTHING about is preventing the World from moving on… this “act” of public bathrooms from both genders is INCORRECT and I find it funny that ANY of you try to retract it, BECAUSE none of you actually read what the legislation is really about. Shame on all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please tell then. From what I have read, no owner of any establishment can prevent anyone from using either a men’s or women’s facilities based on gender, or be subject to fines of several thousand dollars. Not just this article. This means anyone can go to any room without restriction.
If you know something different, explain. Don’t sit and cut down others without backing it up, just looks like you really have no clue yourself by your last statement.
Your are NOT correct.
Yes, they removed a major reference in the legislation that specifically gave rights of transgender folks to pick their restroom and removed a major reference that allowed business to refuse use if they felt the person was faking it.
However, as the good mayor stated, not allowing someone to use the bathroom they self identify with is discrimination and a complaint can be filed and a suit/fines imposed on the business.
So No it was not removed, just the specific sections removed. The overall affect was Not removed.
This is c**p
P Hatzimihail – I just copied this fro the story. You tell me. Wha does it say? “t’s now legal for men to use women’s bathrooms, showers, and dressing facilities” To me, that means a man can go into a womans restroom or shower area, and a woman can go into a mans restroom or shower area. does’t matter if they aren’putting urinals in the womens restroom or not.
