At a Home Depot, in Spokane Valley in Washington State, a Veteran was at the register and politely asked for his Vet discount, showing his Veteran ID. The young man at the register told him that Home Depot does not “do that anymore”. The Veteran asked to speak with management, over comes an entitled type mentality manager, who is rude.
He tells the Veteran that “Corporate is tightening up on those type things.” Luckily, a good Patriot was in line behind the Vet, and when told to go to another line, he said “I’ll just stay here to see what happens”.
see what actions we can take to help the Vet next page
BS it happened and I tried after this post showed up and our store said they no longer gave military discount so day what you want
I worked for Home Depot for 22yrs.and they changed their empowerment policy so that ANY EMPLOYEE can do a 10% markdown on the spot without a manager involved for customer satisfaction reasons, this a rear case of an ahole manager that doesn’t belong there!!!!
Awful i wont shop there
One word: LOWES.
SHAME –The HOME DEPOT
We don’t shop at Home Depot anymore!
They only give discounts on certain things. They are picky! We shop at Lowe’s and never have a problem!
I have always received a Veterans discount when
I show my ID. I have always been treated with respect. Don’t blame a whole company for what a few Morons do put the blame on the individuals who pull that c**p.
Shameful!!
I did ask the local Home Depot for clarification on the military discount…I have a retired dependents ID and it is always honored. I was told that if anyone has the RETIRED ID that shows they were on active duty it is honored. An ID that does not show proof of retired status but does state that the holder was on active duty and is a vet it is only honored on specific dates…sorry but since it did not pertain to me I did not hold that in my memory. There is a big diff between a VET and an active duty or retired from duty vet. Have a daughter that served one enlistment in the Army, she is a vet, but is well aware that she is not entitled to the military discounts that some of the stores do offer, escept on certain federal holidays.
