Gun owners are facing another serious challenge to their Second Amendment rights in the state of Hawaii.
The State Legislature introduced a bill on Wednesday that would increase the requirements Hawaiians would have to meet to continuing possessing a firearm. Specifically, it will mandate that gun owners register their weapons every five years and purchase firearms liability insurance for them.
The requirement to purchase gun insurance is a radical new practice that has yet to be implemented in even the most anti-gun states. Of course, this aspect of the bill is minimized by it’s sponsor, State Senator Josh Green (D-Kona, Ka’u).
“I don’t want to take people’s guns away from them but I want people to take full responsibility,” Senator Green said. How typical of a Democrat to say nobody’s going to take their guns away from them before proposing a course of action that does just that.
But Green doesn’t see it that way. Rather, he sees it in a way that very few Americans do.
Turn to the next page to see what Green compares mandatory gun insurance to:
Had a meeting with my insurance agent two years ago , after my cousins home was a total loss from a fire . his policy (and mine I found ) only covered $1500 for the guns . Including the safe . You have to pay a considerable increase to have all your guns value covered . Needless to say ,I amended my policy . Id recommend you sit down and talk to your insurance agent , if you have guns of any value . Us against them . Yes , it’s nice thinking you can guns , and it’s no ones business . unfortunately , to have them covered against loss , that’s just no way around it . My cousin lost close to $20000 in guns that weren’t covered . It’s a shame .

Thank God I live in AZ.
For guns or against them, that’s a personal choice and I respect people’s choices. What is faulted logic is the idea that these rights are still for civilians that need several super powered guns and huge amounts of amo to be equally armed to their gov…just encase. NO civilian will be equally matched to their gov in this day and age! That would require any civilian to have an arsenal of fighter jets, bombers, tanks, destroyers and bombs plus army’s and navy’s at their disposal. And while your standing there with your AK and countless rounds of gun belts strapped to you, your Gov can press a button from another continent and blow that house up your standing in feeling so secure. The whole idea of being equally matched is insane, but if some people feel safer because of the idea…go for it.
Communist agenda!
Ronald Pope executive orders are only binding to employees of the government agencies under his purview. Only congress can write laws..of course p, the depends on the government following the rules, which they routinely break
The reason to keep the laws the same while kids are dying are equally insane.
F him!
Dina, when it was written it was to protect us from our own government, our government has improved their weapons, so we as Americans should try to keep up with the changes, wasn’t it a Japan general that said that if the US was invaded there would be a weapon behind every blade of grass, that right there is why believe in freedom to own a weapon
all they are doing is making the insurance companies richer
