If a recent study performed by the NRA is any indication of how a majority of Americans feel about gun control, then it’s safe to say that most are against it. What about those who aren’t? They’re the ones who are clearly haven’t purchased one of the 170 million new guns that have been sold since 1991.
And since then, violent crime has fallen by 51 percent. Who would have thought?

Comprehensive national background checks, rather than the piece meal patchwork of different standards between states
A requirement for secure storage and training (provided by the NRA, that bastion of responsible gun ownership)
Public liability insurance for each gun, to create a fund for those hurt or bereaved by the unlawful use of a weapon owned and approved by a background check, with a deductible to be paid by the owner or estate of the owner for each unlawful death. The likelihood of a gun being used unlawfully will be factored into the premium, and like car insurance, young owners may have higher premiums, especially for “racy” weapons. Responsible gun owners will want weapons only in the hands of responsible people, to minimise increases in their premiums.
A national database of gun purchasers, that can readily identify weapons bought and then “stolen”.
