Barack Obama has been one of the biggest offenders of all time in pushing through laws and new policies that completely ignored the processes required by the Constitution. He seeks to destroy the coal industry using unelected bureaucrats at the EPA who are under no real Congressional oversight, and who do not answer to the public at all.
Obamacare is another example of a law that was passed without following the required process of review and access. And of course the most recent effort to force gun control through an executive order is a clear example of executive overreach, and all of these examples clearly show that our hallowed form of government by the people has been ignored and besmirched.
But Obama is not the only culprit, with Congress also implementing laws and instituting policies that do not pass Constitutional muster. When Speaker of the House Nancy Polosi suggested that they would have to pass ground breaking legislation in order to see what was in it, the clear indication was of out of control legislators who had forgotten their duty to the people and were merely puppets following the whim of lobbyists and policy makers without recognizing their critical role in protecting the people and abiding by our founding documents. And lest we forget, the Supreme Court itself, the one agency that should be most attuned to the central document, seems to have devolved into a partisan stand-off that “find” things in the Constitution that simply are not there.
It is heartening, then, that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has proposed the “Texas Plan” which would call for a Constitutional Convention of States in order to add nine amendments to the Constitution with the intent of restricting the power of the federal government and bringing government activities back in line with the original intent of the founders.

NO COS! There is nothing wrong with our present Constitution, it just needs to be honored and enforced. There are other ways to adopt amendments without a COS. The last several went through the process quickly because the States therefore the people already supported them. Most folks don’t realize the the first group to being pushing for a COS was the liberal communists. We do NOT need a COS, but the communists do in order to get our Constitution out of their way. This reason should be enough alone for every Constitutional Conservative to fight against one!
Every American should help I inform Gov Abbott that a COS/ConCon is a VERY BAD IDEA!!!!
This is NOT true. The States already have the ability to enforce States rights through Nullification. It’s already being used against everything from ocare, gun control, IRS overreach, unlawful detention, and executive orders. Nullification is Constitutional, immediate and effective. If amendments are determined to be necessary, there is another method prescribed in our Constitution that has been effectively used without putting our Constitution at risk.
I believe Gov Abbot is a very good man who is being I’ll advised about a COS. He needs more info to understand what a bad idea a COS really is. The TX legislature has voted down support of a COS.
Gov Abbott is a good man who needs more info to understand why the TX legislature does not support a COS. They have it right!
That is not true. It is what advocates would like you to believe. Once convened, a COS is able to take on a life of its own regardless what was agreed on before hand. History shows us this. The States all sent specific instructions with their delegates to the last COS. Once convened, it went off the rails. The result was an entirely new Constitution – the one we have now. The only reason it had a favorable outcome is because people were united behind a common cause, just disagreed, enthusiastically, on how to accomplish it. Back then being a statesman and having integrity meant something. We cannot trust the political climate today. Liberal communists were the first group that began pushing for a COS this time around. That should be reason enough for every Constitutional Conservative to fight against one! We don’t need a COS to accomplish what needs to be done, but they need one to get our Constitution out of their way so they can finish the job of bringing down the only free nation left.
Yes, but th through Nullification, NOT a COS!
God Bless you, Gov. Abbott.
