GOP Senators Turn Spotlight onto Lynch

Senator John Cornyn of Texas, who is a member of both the Intelligence and Judiciary Committees, believes it would be “very helpful” to hear from Lynch directly.

Frankly, a lot of what Hillary Clinton was exposed to by Director Comey’s misconduct and the way he handled that was apparently in response to his lack of confidence in the attorney general, and I think there is a lot we could learn from that,”

In his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey acknowledged how Lynch’s directive regarding the investigation and what to officially call it left him feeling “confused and concerned.”

The president has taken to Twitter to weigh in on the issue in the past week.

A.G. Lynch made law enforcement decisions for political purposes…gave Hillary Clinton a free pass and protection. Totally illegal!”

As Democrats pivot from the Russia collusion angle to focus on obstruction of justice as the way to thwart the Trump presidency, the Republican National Committee has launched a counter-attack.

Why is no one investigating Attorney General Lynch’s Department of Justice for obstruction of justice in the Clinton email investigation. There is compelling evidence to back up the claim that AG Lynch engaged in obstruction of justice.”

Other senators calling for Lynch’s appearance include Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ted Cruz of Texas and Orrin Hatch of Utah.

In private discussions with members of the Intelligence Committee, Comey noted his concern about Lynch’s meeting with former President Bill Clinton at the Phoenix airport last summer posing a serious conflict of interest.

Of great concern to Democrats is that Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the Judiciary Committee’s ranking Democrat, has questioned the action of Lynch as well.

I think we need to know more about that. And there’s only way to know about it, and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that,”
