You don’t win them all, and Soros has had a bad couple of months. First, his candidate for president lost to Donald Trump. Then, letting his hatred of Trump override his investment judgement, he went short the market, anticipating, and no doubt hoping for, a serious correction or crash. Instead the stock markets went up with his losses from that trade reported to be $1 billion.
Don’t worry too much about him, however. He still has plenty of money, and his overall investment portfolio value gained for the year, or so we are told.
That he is upset by Trump’s victory is an understatement. In the past he has insisted that Trump is a fascist, with policies that will undo much of the social engineering Soros has backed. His anger and frustration over Hillary’s defeat by Mr. Trump can be seen in his funding groups such as MoveOn as well as footing the bill for violent protests against President Trump. In a better world, he’d be defending himself in court on all sorts of charges including conspiracy.
In spite of the shellacking that he took with his bet against the stock markets, he is still predicting doom and gloom for the US economy based on his belief that Trump will fail, something which he actually admits that he hopes will happen. That is the theme in one of his latest interviews. Declaring Trump to have “self-contradictory” views, he sees him doomed to fail, and with him, American society.
This wishing evil to befall others is standard Soros. Recall that his fortune was made by betting against the Bank of England in a currency trade that he obviously won. By “breaking the Bank of England” he became extraordinarily wealthy while tens of thousands of British homeowners suffered terribly. Doubtful that he lost any sleep over their fate.
What we have here, is another angry leftist who is having a great deal of trouble coming to terms with Donald Trump’s victory. Instead of throwing bricks at police and lighting trash cans on fire, he finances those who do. So he’s not really a lot different from the hoodlums in the street except that he has a few billion dollars more in his wallet than they do, and can accomplish that all such extreme wealth can buy.
While he remains a powerful foe of those who love liberty everywhere, this election proved that the people can overcome even billionaire misanthropes like Soros. Perhaps that this fact has been revealed for all to see has him more upset than Hillary’s loss.
