Who would have thought after Pope Benedict XVI resigned amid multiple scandals in the Catholic Church, that his predecessor would prove just as controversial?
Once Pope Francis took over papal duties, he immediately began uprooting foundational beliefs of the Catholic Church. His controversial stances on contraception, gay relationships, and false gods prompted many to question more than his qualifications for the job. They began wondering if he was even a particularly good Catholic.
After three years of Francis’ reign, it seems that those very fundamental Christians have had enough with the Pope’s liberal interpretation of the Catholic religion. No longer willing to accept the fact that a man who seems less devout than many common disciples as the head of the church, they’re demanding he step down.
That demand even headlined a major opinion piece written for Fox News. See why Pope Francis is being asked to resign on the next page:
So, the pope is telling me that I just paid $500. to have my marriage annulled in the Catholic Church and I wasn’t even married in the first place? What have I been taught over the last 69 years?? It’s time for him to resign as Pope of the Catholic Church along with Obama as president of the USA.
He’s the antichrist
He is a false prophet – wake up Catholics
This pope is a Dope!
It’s true. Terry Dubrow from “Botched” does look like the pope. Eeeeeew
The last two Pope’s have been weird. Both are / were very strange.
You don’t have a clue what he said or what he meant by it. He simply articulated point of Canon Law that goes back as far as there has been Canon Law. The RCC distinguishes between “Natural Marriage” and “Christian Covenantal Marriage”, the latter involving a much greater obligation than the former. A the Christian covenant (or sacrament) of marriage is not a bilateral contract from which one party is freed from his obligations by breech by the other. It is for each spouse an unilateral, irrevocable, unescapable, do-or-die blood oath. But – according to Canon Law – any person who goes through the Christian marriage rite but either (a) intends not to be that committed, or (b) does not actually understand that that is the commitment involved, has not in fact entered into the Christian sacrament of matrimony, does not have a sacramentally valid marriage, and as such the “marriage” can be declared null by the Church (annulled) if one or both spouses petition it to do so, freeing them to marry others. But for those who truly understood and accepted the vow and did enter into the covenant of marriage, there can be no annulment even for the innocent spouse of one who obtained a no-fault legal divorce from the state without the wronged spouse’s consent, “married” (an adulterous concubinage in the eyes of the Church and God) another, and had children with them. The innocent and wronged spouse is still required to be true to his vow and his estranged spouse, and pray for that spouse’s repentance and return. Someone utters their marriage vows without accepting that that’s the deal, that that’s the promise they’re making, isn’t in a sacramentally valid marriage. It is still a natural and legal marriage, but not the Christian sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Boy this pope is something else.
Idiot
