It is incredible that over 150 years after its final abolition, slavery continues to impact race relations in America. No one currently alive in America was ever a slave in the United States. The closest connection that can be made is that there are probably some very elderly persons who, as young children, might have a met a former slave who had lived a very long life.
The point isn’t to speculate on such matters, but to emphasize that no one alive today was directly impacted by the practice of slavery in America. Racially discriminatory practices, yes. Slavery, no.
We cannot change the past. But, we can look at history, try to learn something, and resolve to do much better. Part of that involves challenging prevailing ideas that might not be accurate.
More on page two.
I think all you liberal jackasses have to raze Anthony Johnson’s grave and string his bones up for the liberal left as he was the 1st to own a black slave in America. Oh guess what! HE WAS BLACK.
Many of the north thought the war would only last a few months, the north would win and all southern property would be confiscated for the interest of those northerners….lo and behold, the Confederates won battles and were in PA, a northern state…panic….Those northern business interest intended to own southern state assets, including slaves. Thus, Lincoln “freed the slaves”, but only in those southern states, not northern states.
Shocking…but true.
All racist are conservatives and all conservatives are republicans
Many have estimated 4 million slaves in US, 3 million in Confederate states and 1 million in Union states….highly inflated. Not disputed that about 6% of Africans sold into slavery by Africans, came to US. Taking the numbers some express would leave Africa without anyone.
About 50% of all slave trade by African blacks were sold into Middle-East countries, half of those died in travel, those of men were castrated upon arrival. Another estimated 44% were sold into Caribe and South American countries.
Yes, a Black man was the 1st slave owner in Colonial America. He lived in what is now, the State of Louisiana
At one time, there were thousands of rum distilleries in New England states…because their ships were more often unloading slaves in countries that produced sugar, that sugar was shipped to the rum distilleries, rum was used to pay for more slaves in Africa.
In mid-1800’s, there were more white slaves in Africa than blacks. The reason for formation of the USMC. The Marine Corp was created to protect against white enslavement….”from the halls of Montezuma to to shores of Tripoly”.
Liberals are to stupid to listen to the real truth.
