Owners Cynthia and Robert Gifford of the Liberty Ridge Farm in New York have been fined $13,000 for refusing to host a gay wedding.
The Gifford’s host approximately 12 weddings at their farm per year, but refused to host one for a lesbian couple as they feel it would violate their religious beliefs.
But the New York State Division of Human Rights ruled that because the Liberty Ridge Farm is open to the public for specific events, like weddings, it must be classified as a “public accommodation.” This places the farm under a sexual orientation non-discrimination state ordinance.

disgusting
Religious beliefs or not. ……if this is truly a free nation that means the right to refuse to serve someone for whatever reason. ………so gay rights means the gays have more rights? They got refused and now they want to punish? That doesn’t sound like gay rights…sounds like a different class of citizens that cannot be refused. …..
This is so wrong of them to be fined . They were with their religious belief and what is written in the Bible…a man shall not lay with another man and a woman shall not lay with another woman. I won’t respond to any replays because I won’t go against the word of God the Holy Bible.
Why should gays get more rights than others? …….
Do not pay that fine take them to the High Court for taking away your constitutional Rights. This is still American and you don’t have to let anyone in your business or home that you don’t want!!
The freedom of choice..is there a freedom like that..you can choose who you want to Host..Raise the bar…and use a different excuse..like this is a country setting for country folks only.
I am a Gay Christian and I think this ain’t right.
no shoes, no shirt, no service. the farmers can’t choose?
I would tell that judge to go pound salt. I would not pay the fine and I would tell the Lesbians to find a gay farm for their wedding.
Last time I checked, this was still a free country and you could refuse to serve anyone you cared to. wonder what kind of courts we now have ????? The high and mighty might want to reconsider this lousy decision.
