Flu shots not worth the risk to some
It would seem that there are enough negative reactions to flu shots that extreme caution is in order.
Brianna Browning, 9, has been in the hospital since October 17th. Her parents say one day she was healthy and the next, she was paralyzed and losing her vision.
“It’s horrible. It kills us,” said Johnny Alexander, the girl’s stepfather.
The 4th grader who loves to run, jump and play in the sand got a flu shot at her school on Bolivar Peninsula October 15th. Then her health went downhill.
“Eight hours later she was profusely vomiting and again Friday morning. Saturday, she was paralyzed from the waist down, blind and seemed like she had a seizure,” Brenda Faulk, Brianna’s mother told Eyewitness News.
Brianna is currently at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Medical Center. Her parents say doctors don’t yet know what happened or why but the parents are convinced it has something to do with the flu shot.

I believe it. I have had nothing but bad reactions. Never again!
G.b.s. happened to a nephew of mine
Never have never will.
This is part of the reasons why people are scared to get one
My prayer be with your daughter.
“Claims”
Is a 4th grade girl developing a sudden onset of paralysis terrible: yes. Was it caused by a flu vaccine: no. Vaccination has been around for over 100 years, it’s nothing new, and it’s vitally important for sustaining a population’s health, or what’s known as ‘heard immunity’ (I could go into a lengthy discussion as to the benefits of vaccinations and heard immunity, but I won’t, you have google and a brain, use it). From a patho-physiological standpoint, claims that a particular vaccination precipitated a serious of cataclysmic symptoms are ridiculous. Do a little research into how vaccines work and it’s self apparent that vaccinations aren’t capable of causing paraplegia. And no, it’s not an allergic reaction, that’s not how our bodies’ response to histamines work. More than likely, the poor girl has an underlying injury or condition, with no causation linked to receiving a vaccine. It’s terrible, and people like to find a quick scapegoat to latch onto to blame, but these perceptions are based on emotion and a lack of scientific understanding. Also, the people who believe this kind of pseudo science garbage are the same kind who believe vaccines cause Autism, which they don’t. You were all given a mind, it’s time you started using it.
