ESPN Praises Kaepernick and Associates for Taking a Knee During National Anthem, “it’s a wonderful thing”

Once upon a time, going to a sports game was a way to “get away from life for a while.”  A place to rest from the day-to-day stresses of life and just enjoy a game, rooting for the home team while enjoying the company of other fans and some quality junk food and beverages.  No more.

Now we have the spectacle of some players enthusiastically standing and saluting our flag in traditional manner, others using that time to stage a political protest by kneeling or raising fists in the air, and probably others perplexed by it all, just hoping that they get some playing time without making fools of themselves.

It seems that ESPN can’t restrain itself and must promote a particular point of view. In light of my aforementioned comments, this should be no surprise.  Nor should the side ESPN has chosen to support surprise anyone.

So, here we go with San Francisco’s recent home opener complete with coverage by ESPN.

As violinist Lindsey Stirling played “The Star Spangled Banner,” Kaepernick and teammate Eric Reid remained on a knee. The players protested as military personnel held up a football-field-sized flag feet above the field. A banner in the seats at one end zone read: “Home of the Faithful.”

And these protesters had some company.

San Francisco linebacker Eli Harold and safety Antoine Bethea raised black-power fists during the song. Los Angeles Rams defensive end Robert Quinn and wide receiver Kenny Britt also held up fists.

Not all of the fans were sympathetic to the protesting players’ actions, however.

ESPN noted that a fan reacted to Monday night’s demonstration by yelling, “Kaepernick, why don’t you stand up?”

But, true to its agenda, ESPN implied that there were multitudes supporting Kapernick & Company.

The network also showed teammates hugging the backup quarterback after the anthem and numerous fans receiving autographs from Kaepernick…

And to finish it off, ESPN commentators engaged their massive intellects to provide thoughtful commentary.

ESPN color commentator Steve Young praised Kaepernick as “thoughtful” after the anthem. “It’s really raised consciousness,” he claimed, “and it’s a wonderful thing.” Play-by-play man Chris Berman credited Kaepernick with opening up a national “discussion.”

Perfect.  What is supposed to be an enjoyable sporting event has now been corrupted not just by unfathomable sums of money, but by leftest political ideology.  Sort of makes that hot dog and beer not so tasty anymore.
