At one time you got a scholarship to a university for being a scholar. Someone, either a university itself, or some other organization, deemed your academic prospects to be so positive that they were willing to pay part or all of your tuition expenses so you could study at college. Financial aid was and remains available for those who would have trouble writing a check for the full amount each semester. This can come in the form of loans or outright grants.
So far, nothing shocking or even new has been revealed here. We know all that. College is expensive, and the student who doesn’t have to be concerned about the cost is fortunate indeed.
Somewhere along the way, however, things have gotten very much off-track. Scholarships and other forms of financial assistance are now being awarded to specific individuals in order to make a point politically. Perhaps the recipients of these funds are worthy scholars, perhaps not. But that’s not the main issue.

Pathetic.
Defund immediately!
Dumb$#%&!@*,,,, rich
And how much will they raise tuition, board, books ,and assorted fees for all other students to cover this plan? Ridiculous!
With whose money? Foundation funds? Are the donors and alumni OK with this? American kids can’t get this kind of support . Many deserving students can’t follow their dream.
No wonder there aren’t enough qualified employable people for US jobs and we have to get foreigners to fill them….sad!! Many universities should just close. They are of no value!
Cut off federal money from these colleges.
They will just raise everyon elses tuition to make up for it i have a friend that got 300 dollars tacked onto hers
Can you imagine sending your kid to this place?
Professors should work for free so more minorites can go to school on the cheap….no taxpayer funds, paid for only by what the school and staff will give up of their own personal contribution
