It’s called a sand point well & there’s no way you will get deal enough to get safe water. They are good if your looking to water grass or plants but nothing past that. I’ve drilled several over the years. Would even water livestock with the water.
I’d like to try that some day.
My husband has put down several wells at different homes we have owned. Sure saves on the water bill.
That method may be great for a shallow well and jet pump combo. But you need a good drilling rig to go down to bedrock for long term water use that lasts decades with sufficient power.

I drilled a well in a similar manner using galvanized pipe. I attached a tire air valve to the top. Couple water with forced air and the process goes fast. You can go down 4-5 feet in seconds. A helper is essential when you do this so that your pipe does not go below the surface. Tge well can be completed in hours.
