The warm summer months never last forever. Soon it’s time to look for a way to bring a little extra warmth into the home and this simple solar heater is a great project to do just that. It’s made of metal cans, steel or aluminum, and can produce a surprisingly strong and consistent airflow upwards of 140F.
Even on a heavy snow day you’re looking at somewhere around 75-85F.
Best of all, this simple project requires just a few common parts and many of them can simply be re-purposed from your regular recycling. Watch the project come together in the fully-detailed video on the NEXT PAGE:
I have one, it works. Raises 10 degree air up to 140 in 15 minutes. Sun must be shining. It makes a good suppliment for your existing heater.
For the cost of running the fan a 100 watt bulb would put off more heat.
You would be better off using clay flower pots and tea light candle method.
If this is done a little more efficiently, it could heat the entire house.
I believe this guy is a joke, the drill was in reverse the whole time!
I saw this in the 1970s in The Mother Earth News.
You can use darkened gutters as well, pop on some solar panels running fans and heat up your shop. Not sure I would drill a couple holes in my wall of by den, though.
Made one of those about 2 years ago in the work great for dehydrating stuff
Now if you could just capture it for later!
